Gary said, "You believe that?"
The Haitian woman said, "If he lie he could tell a good lie, he can tell grand stories. But I don't know." She said, "I go home tonight and fetch a white chicken and kill it."
Gary said, "Yeah? Why you gonna do that?"
The woman said, "Because I'm hungry, I don't eat nothing today coming here."
Gary said, "Oh."


"Was Darius, at the time he was shot, was he holding anything in his hand?"
"He was holding a knife," Byran answered.
"What Kind? Big butcher knife?"
"He was holding a silverware knife."
"Just a plain, ordinary silverware knife?"
"That's right," Bryan said. "With banana cream pie on it."


"Miss McGuire is a sergant," Bryan said, "A homicide detective."
Robbie grinned. "Well, Miss McGuire can get on my case anytime."
