graffiti thft + (est ici)

(est où?)

from bruce veasly, in poetry Northwest

(and with a special thought for my nephew js)

in ... paradoxography
(a compilation of events deemed odd)

* * *

I always thought it went
Our Father which aren't
in heaven, and sat
staring at His stained glass throne, wondering
where instead He were.

* * *

I'm not sure I got
that: did that sign
say God is nowhere
or God is now here,
or both?

today is my birthday c'est mon anniversaire

a quote from watching "the maltese falcon" last night and fit for me and the year to come:

the blonde, pretend moping: "you won't get in trouble, will you?"
bogart: " i don't mind a certain amount of trouble."

so, i also wouldn't mind a certain amount of trouble in my life. my life is lacking in trouble i think so, as my little darling would say.

music to play along: http://www.myspace.com/deadmansbones
that's what i'm listening to a lot at the moment

them sort of things is what you have to consider

deadwood 3:11

just then a man sticks his head into the opening of the tent, ellsworth sees him, stares at him, and gets hit with a bullet right in the middle of his forehead. curtain. before being paraded through deadwood's main street in an open horsecart for all to see.

l'année commence/a new year/ berlin - & rick bass*

à berlin, pour mon amie agnès benoît-nader, l'année commence comme ça
(photos avec sa permission)

and a few words from Rick Bass:
"And what would the snipe think or remember, upon reawakening and finding themselves still in that desolate position, desolate place and time, but still alive, and with hope?
Would it seem to them that a thing like grace had passed through, as they slept -- that a slender winding river of it had passed through and rewarded them for their faith and endurance?"

On the other hand, he remembered his first joke and there was a connection. He'd heard it from his Brooklyn-born barber when he was a kid. Somebody put an orange in a robin's nest and when the young birds came back, one said to the other, "Look at the orange Mama laid." In the barber's accent, it sounded the same as "orange marmalade." There was a time when I thought that was a really fine joke.

"What are you doing today?"
"I'm going to see Gracie."
"Gracie," Phil said as his face helplessly darkened. "What's she doing back in town?"
"How the hell should I know? What's Smokie doing in Montana? What's June doing on a Buick lot?"
"What's my wife doing fucking the doctor?"
"And so on. Exactly."
